Re: Beware I/O Analyser on DHCP Subnets in a Windows shop

By default, I/O Analyzer will be assigned a hostname from DHCP. Please make sure your DHCP server assigns an IP address with FQDN. The assigned hostname will be used for DNS registration.

If your DHCP server assigns IP addresses without FQDN or if you are using static IP address assignment, please assign it a desired hostname via yast by deselecting "Change Hostname via DHCP" and selecting "Assign Hostname to Loopback IP" in "Network Devices" -> "Network Settings" -> "Hostname/DNS".

The detailed steps can be found in this thread posted by our users: https://communities.vmware.com/message/2418707

As we are expecting in most environments, DHCP will be used and there will be multiple I/O Analyzer instances running under the same domain, giving it a static hostname and disabling hostname update via DHCP will cause more problems. Hence please bear with us we will not make such a change.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Chien-Chia
